San Antonio is exploring a new Sports & Entertainment District anchored by the Alamodome, a future Spurs Arena, and an expanded Henry B. González Convention Center. The vision combines sports, conventions, dining, retail, housing, and public spaces into a unified destination designed to boost tourism, local business, and event appeal. Benefits include integrated branding, shared infrastructure, improved mobility, and stronger economic impact.

Plans call for up to 200,000 square feet of new convention space, a major hotel, mixed-use parcels, and enhanced Riverwalk and park connections. Funding would blend public sources such as hotel occupancy taxes and federal grants with private investment and naming rights. Affordable housing is also a focus through preservation and transit-oriented development. With competitors like Austin and Dallas investing billions, SA aims to protect market share, grow annual visitor spending, and could bring the proposal to voters in a 2025 bond election.
